It is advisable to use a two-step authentication in order to prevent misuse of the sensitive data stored in Neptun. Institutional settings may require a two-step authentication. In this case it is mandatory to perform the two-factor registration after logging in the system for the first time.




Setting up the two-factor authentication

By clicking the Settings button, the QR code displayed in the popup window mut be scanned with the Authenticator application. If the QR code cannot be scanned for some reason, the two-step authentication can be activated in the Authenticator application by entering the text code. After performing this, the 6-digit code generated by the application and the password must be provided in Neptun.

An application of the user's choice can be used for the authentication which is capable of TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password) protocol. Such applications among others:

Mobil apps: Google authenticator, Microsoft authenticator

Windows: FortiToken Windows

Mac/Linux: Twilio Authy
